Details

First our script was written and edited by the contributing researchers, aiming for a video of less than ten minutes. Our contributing researchers also lent their voices as narrators. Essential presentation materials were organized next, and these included screenshots, photos, and excerpts from the paper itself.

After these necessary elements were in place, I storyboarded the animation segments among them. I created vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator, animated them using After Effects, and assembled it all in Premiere Pro. The end result was a cohesive animated video for our researchers to present at the ICLS 2020 Online Conference.

Insights

This was my first experience using After Effects and I was delighted to find that it was much easier than anticipated! Although animation is time-consuming, it is well worth it when the client is impressed and satisfied. Our researchers received many positive comments on this presentation. This is extra-awesome to me because of the nature of this research, bringing benefit to an under-served segment of our population.
